We believe google has stayed on their words this time with Google Duo. Not before so long on google IO they came up with 3 new communication apps, and We thought ok great news!

We think it will really take some time to adjust their umbrella with already having many communication platforms of their own including  Google+, Hangouts, Spaces, and Inbox.

But to our sheer surprise, google launched the first of its new apps called Google Duo, which directly puts itself into the other giant’s apps like facetime or Viber.

A major win over other apps, Duo has a significant exception. People can only use FaceTime to call others who have Apple devices. But Duo lets you place video calls between Android and iPhone users, and increases the of people with whom you can do a video conversation.

Nick Fox, Google’s head of communication products, said the top priority with Duo was to build a great product to increase the use of video calling among Android users. he added, making Android more attractive to iPhone owners was a secondary motive. Google Duo’s appeal is that it was simple to use, fast, and more accessible.

With google duo in the play store, few Features which wants to make you switch to the video calls are quite innovative

  • KnockKnock – makes you smile before the call starts :), Duo’s unique feature is Knock Knock, which gives you a preview of who is calling by firing up the camera on the other end of the line. If you’re initiating the call, you’ll see a little notice that says your video is visible
  • The interface is super simple –Duo has an incredibly user-friendly and intuitive interface. Before you begin a call, you’ll see icons to start a video call and your recent contacts
  • As most of google’s app, Duo offers end to end data compression making the image more crispy on high-end wifi networks
  • It really does what it says Just simple video calling no option for the chat, message or even Audio to confuse the user because Google believes people do video calling only when they want to see people and no other shenanigans should come in between.

though We haven’t had much time to use the app to the fullest, the app looks promising and at least it bridges the GAP between iPhone and Android users, that’s what matters when your partner is an apple buff but you are a techie and devoted your life to android.
